ANOTHER NEW BOOKING: JAZZ AT STELLA’S COFFEE

FREE CONCERT FOR PEACE
Come to a free “September Concert for Peace” at 8 p.m. Sat., Sept. 11 at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort. I’ll be on the line-up along with ten other performers, all donating our time and talents for this FIRST in downtown Chandler. Sponsored by the Chandler Irish Cultural Council (CICC), the sister city organization for Chandler and Tullemore, Ireland, there will be a wide variety of singers, dancers, storytellers and musicians on stage that night. It coincides with other September Concerts around the COUNTRY that weekend.
If you’d like to support the CICC, come to a benefit dinner prior to the concert, which will include a great dinner, silent auction, raffle items, live music and vendors. Tickets are only $40 and you also get a ring side seat for the concert. Visit www.ChandlerIrishCulturalCouncil.org for all the details, and to purchase tickets for the dinner. Hope to see you there!
FALL IS ON ITS WAY
Yes, indeed, we’re actually seeing a little cooler weather, but there’s still hot jazz on the second Sunday of the month at La Stalla in downtown Chandler.
Come hear “Skylark,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” and a lot of other classic jazz tunes with a fresh, contemporary twist at this great Italian restaurant right across from the San Marcos hotel. On Sept. 12, I’ll perform with Todd Martino on keys between 6 and 9 p.m. Thanks to those of you who came last month (Marcia McGovern brought me beautiful roses, too!) and got free copies of my new demo CD. It includes “All of Me,” ”More Than You’ll Know,” “Route 66,” “Smile” and more. My son, Devon, accompanies me beautifully on “Come in From the Rain” and my original tune “Universal Language.” The CD is $10 each plus shipping and handling. Email me at Laurie@LaurieFagen.com to order.
If you want to hear some great instrumental jazz guitars, check out the Vandal-Hancock Duo of Matt Vandal and Devon Hancock on from 6 to 9 p.m. Sun., Sept. 26 also at La Stalla, located at 68 W. Buffalo St., south of the southwest corner of Chandler Blvd. and Arizona Avenue. Call 480-855-9990 for reservations or visit www.lastallacr.com. Buffalo Street is NOW OPEN again, altho construction continues along Arizona Avenue from Chandler Blvd. to Frye. Come east on Chandler Blvd. and slip in from the north side.
WHAT THE DICKENS???
I’m looking forward to performing with the Dickens Carolers again this year! We sing a capella in four-part harmony with soprano, alto, bass and tenor and, wearing Victorian clothing, stroll at holiday functions, private parties and all kinds of locations. To book a quartet or the new one-hour show, visit www.AzDickensCarolers.com or call 480-994-3666 for details. A jazz group for the off-season is also in the works, and I can’t wait for that …
PENNINGTON GARDENS B’DAY PARTY
I’ll be performing at Pennington Gardens in Chandler on Sept. 24 to help the residents celebrate their September birthdays. It’s always a fun time!

Enjoyed performing with Frank Smith on the beautiful Yamaha grand piano at the Village of Ocotillo in Southern Chandler during their Happy Hour recently.
